Planning Your Outdoor Kitchen
You will want to
take several things into consideration when
planning your outdoor kitchen. Make a list
of the things you want to accomplish so that you
can get the most out of your design.
If you’re looking for a great way to entertain
without heating up your kitchen in the hot
summer months, you’ll want to consider joining
the trend of entertaining outside. When planning
your outdoor kitchen there are several things to
be considered, including how often you plan to
entertain outdoors, how many people you plan on
entertaining at one given moment, and how much
space you have to work with.
If you plan on entertaining outdoors often,
you’ll want to plan your outdoor kitchen to be
efficient. You’ll need to make sure you have
storage space. You will not want to keep running
back and forth to your indoor kitchen to get
necessary items. You’ll find many choices of
cabinets for you to choose from that will stand
up to extreme temperatures. You may also want to
consider a movable storage unit to be stored
away during the winter months. The important
thing, however, is the make sure your storage
space has enough room for your needs.
If you are limited to a small space, you’ll want
to make sure the outdoor kitchen area is
efficient, though small. Make sure you have
approximately 36” of space on both sides of the
grill. This will allow you the work space to do
your cooking efficiently and safely. You’ll also
want to make sure there is at least 3 feet to 4
feet between the dining table and anything else
to make sure there is enough room to get around
the table comfortably.
There are many choices in grills for your
outdoor kitchen and yours should be one that has
all of the necessary items to make your outdoor
kitchen efficient and comfortable for you to
work with. With the grill, you should have at
least two burners and storage underneath. There
are other items you may want to consider adding
on if you plan to entertain a large crowd.
Warming drawers are helpful so nothing goes onto
the table cold and you may also want to consider
an exhaust hood to keep the smoke out of the
eyes of your guests.
Your outdoor kitchen should be built according
to your entertaining style. Make sure the
outdoor kitchen is suited to your tastes and
you’re able to do your outdoor cooking in
comfort and ease and you’ll find you’ll spend
more time in your outdoor kitchen than in your
indoor kitchen.
